6 Things to Do This Summer to Get Ready for a Profitable Q3 & Q4

The best time to build relationships is when you don’t need to be building relationships.
Don’t wait until November and December to start engaging with your donors - it will be too late.
Here are 6 ways to start warming up your donors this summer before end-of-year giving season begins.
1. RADICAL GRATITUDE
Calls, notes, emails, text messages - aim for 3 generous “thank yous” this summer.
2. CLEAN YOUR EMAIL LIST
I know this feels tough (you worked so hard for those subscribers!) but keeping inactive subscribers on your list is messing up your data (and your data informed decisions). I recommend putting folks who haven’t opened anyemails in the last 12-18 months through a re-engagement sequence and then removing people who don’t engage.
3. GROW YOUR AUDIENCE
Now that your list is clean, it’s time to rebuild. Grow your email list by inviting people to join your newsletter, inserting a pop-up on your homepage, or putting out an opt-in resource.
4. CIRCLE BACK
Did you tell a story of impact during your last end-of-year campaign? Circle back to your donors and give them an update on that person/animal/place, how they are doing and how your program is helping them.

5. SPENDING TRANSPARENCY
One of the fastest ways to build trust between your nonprofit and your donors is by being transparent. Try giving your donors a spending update: salaries, program costs, operation costs & more.
6. SEND A SURVEY
Getting your messaging just right is always tricky. By sending your donors a survey you can uncover what messages are resonating + re-use the language THEY give you in their answers.
REMEMBER: What you do in June, July and August will impact how much your raise in October, November and December.
